Okay, so this wasn't exactly the sort of town that Alec was looking forward to; it wasn't as people described it. He'd expected it to be beautiful and bustiling with business and laughter, instead, it was quiet and deserted. He stepped inside of town and stopped in confusion, this wasn't right; and deep down Alec knew something was wrong. Store signs hung upon rusted metal, creaking back and forth in the wind as dirt and dust swooped up off of the ground in billows of clouds, blocking one's sight as it stung your face.
"Hello?" Alec shouted out, hoping for a reply.
A cat peered around the corner of a building to see what the noise was and then took off running for cover again. As another gust of wind picked up dirt and threw it towards him, something plummeted in his stomach as a sickening smell hit his nose. He looked around for the source, but only found crows circling what should be the main square up a hill and around what appeared to be a building. Having found nobody yet, Alec decided to go see where the smell was coming from. He walked up the deserted road and couldn't help but feel like he was walking on territory that he didn't belong on; and with that feeling came the feeling of dread.
Somewhere, deep in the back of Alec's head, a voice was screaming at him to not go any closer; to not take another step up the hill. On the other side of his head was a voice reasoning with him that if he didn't look now that he might never know what was around the turn and that it might become useful in the future of his travels. So, taking a deep breath and hoping that his stomach was strong enough for what might be around the corner; Alec took another step and turned to look at what lay before him.
A pile of gore and horror was stacked before Alec's eyes, glistening in the sun with red currents of liquid. On the bottom were men, on top of them were the women and at the very top, the first place the eyes went to, were the babies. Mutilated and sliced into indescribable pieces, they lay there with eyes open and mouths wide; staring at nothing. Bile rose to Alec's mouth as he noticed lances sticking out of the ground, and stuck onto the lances were the heads of more people; starring right at him.
Who could do such a thing to innocent people? Alec asked himself as he watched a crow swoop down and begin to feast upon the dead.
"Well, well. Looks like we have a wanderer." A chilling voice said from right behind Alec's left ear. Alec swung around to face the person, but something stopped him from ever making it all of the way around. One instant he was turning around and the next he was dead; lying on the ground without a head. A lance was stabbed into the ground and upon it was another head; Alec's.
A deep cackle echoed around the lifeless town and a black figure stepped out of the shadows. His long black coat and black hat covered his entire features, leaving him obscure to the world. A crow cocked its head to the side before giving a cry back in uncertainty. With long, striding steps, the cloaked man began walking towards the other end of town; lances in a sack on his back and a sword withing his hands. With a gust of wind and a cloud of dirt the man was gone.
Really descriptive! I loved how I could see the pictures in my head clearly. Nice work :)
