Peyton hates moving, he’s moved to three different schools in the past year. His summer was actually normal until he had to move, again. He had just gotten used to everything; he was even the starting running back for Woodson High. He loves football, no matter what school he goes to he gives one hundred percent. This will be his junior year of high school. Peyton’s parents say they’re moving to Texas. His mom, Mary, is about as tall as him maybe taller. She was an athlete herself in high school, she was on the basketball team and won states her senior year. She was the all-star on the team. She was 6’0” and still is. His dad, Roger, look almost identical in every single way. His dad is not as tall, but he’s as big as Peyton. After Roger graduated from high school, he enrolled in the military and became an officer. Ever since they had Peyton, they’ve been moving all over the U.S..
Today is Peyton’s first day at practice with Coach Price. Coach Price is a short person, he’s stalky, but short. He shows up about an hour early so he can focus and get ready. He gets to the high school, and as soon as he turns into the school he sees in big orange and blue letters “Middleburg High School: Home of the Eagles”. He pulls into his parking spot, gets his football gear, and locks his Jeep. He walks into the locker room and it looks like a college locker room. He walks around looking at the name plates of the lockers trying to find his name. He finds it in big bold letters “Peyton Hawkins – Rb”. He’s ecstatic; he’s never had a locker this fancy or ever been in a locker room this nice. In the middle of the room is a cooler full of Gatorade and water. He doesn’t take any because he doesn’t want to do anything wrong on the first day.
A half an hour later a few other guys start showing up. One guy walks in and Peyton’s eyes are drawn to him, he’s 6’3” and around 215. He walks over to a locker that Peyton remembers it as being a quarterback locker. “No wonder this place is so nice. This team is crazy good. “ Peyton thought. The quarterback sees Peyton and walks toward him. “Hi, my name’s Jake Lockhart, I’m the starting quarterback and captain. I haven’t seen you in the weight room or in this school before are you new here?” He says. “Yeah, I just moved here from California. My name’s Peyton, Peyton Hawkins.” Peyton says. “Cool man, what position do you play?” Jake says. “Running back.” Peyton says, “Sweet I’ll be seeing you around. Nice to meet you Peyton, and welcome to Middleburg Football” Jake holds his hand out for Peyton to shake, they shake hands and Peyton gets dressed for practice. After practice Peyton, drives home to tell his parents about the locker room and his name plate and everything. (not finished)
