Maiden's Resting Place

Some people swore that the house was haunted. The large and old, yet beautiful house at the end of Jadwyn Road. It was built out of red brick with white door and white window shutters. There were vines crawling up the sides of the house and weeds had long ago taken over the flower beds on either side of the front deck. The house hadn't been lived in in over 60 years and had been nicknamed the Maiden's Resting Place. The story was that there had been a family that lived there long ago. The Elsings had been a happy family even though it was only Mr. Elsing, Mrs. Elsing, and their daughter Amelia in the large house.
Everything had been perfect for the family until the summer Amelia turned 17. One warm summer day, Amelia and her father went into town and while they were at the general store, Amelia met a 19 year old boy named Will. There was an instant attraction between the two of them and the spent most of their days together from then on.
But Mr. Elsing did not approve of Will. Mr.Elsing thought Will wasn't good enough for his daughter. Amelia's father tried everything to keep them apart but Amelia and Will still met in secret late in the evenings.
Soon Amelia and Will fell in love and wanted to be married. Amelia knew that her father would never approve so she and Will ran off and eloped. She told her father she was visiting an aunt. Amelia and Will caught a train and went to the next county over and were married.
When they came back, they kept their marriage a secret for months. Then one day, Amelia's father found out. He ran out of the house in a furious rage and didn't come home until late that night with blood splattered on his clothing. Amelia had gone to bed by that time and didn't see him come home.
The next evening, Amelia went to her and Will's special secret place. But he never came. She thought that maybe he had had more chores than usual so she went home. When she returned the next evening and he didn't come, she became concerned and ran home. She told her mother everything from the secret meetings to her and Will being married. Just then her father walked in. He told her about how he had never approved of the two of them and how he had taken care of everything. Amelia asked what he meant and her father told her, with a satisfied look on his face, that he had killed Will. Amelia began to cry hystarically and ran upstairs to her room.
Later that evening, her father went up to her room and asked if she understood why he had done what he did. She said she understood but she was lying. She was furious with her father. She had loved Will more than anything in the world; more than life itself. After her parents had gone to bed, Amelia wrote her parents a note, left it on her bed, and the quietly made her way to her window. She opened it silently and crawled out to sit on the window sill. She turned and looked in her room one last time then threw herself out the window to her death.
The next morning, Amelia's parents found the note on her bed. The note had read: "Father, I shall never forgive you. Ever. You never understood. But the night has cured everything and I shall have peace". Her parents stared at each other for a moment then realized that her window was open. They both raced over and leaned out of it. There, far below on the ground, was Amelia's body. Nothing was ever the same again after that.
