Steam hissed and the brakes squealed as the train lurched to a halt. People stood up, snatching luggage and gathering children as the train emptied onto the platform. Soon, the train was empty except a small frightened girl clutching a tattered suitcase. The conductor strolled towards her. "Ready to meet your new parents, Miss Susan?" He boomed, hefting her suitcase onto his shoulder. Susan winced, nodded, and took the conductors outstretched hand as they stepped onto the platform.
A young man with flaming red hair was standing next to a carraige. When he spotted the conductor and Susan, his eyes lit up and he hurried towards them. "You must be Susan!" he cried, beaming. "Thank you sir, I'll take her suitcase. I'm a good friend of the Finley's. Those are your adopted parents names. They're good people, you know, very nice. Here, your trunk will go in the back; you sit up here with me. How was the train ride? I've ridden the train a few times myself. My name is Patrick, by the way, pleasure to meet you."
Patrick swung himself up next to Susan and picked up the reins. The conductor waved, obviously realizing he wouldn't be able to get a word in over Patricks' stream of conversation. The conductor strolled back to the platform, stopping once to give a man directions. Patrick cracked the reins and the horses started forward. Susan was delighted at the horses but remained silent, preferring to watch them instead. Patrick, oblivious to Susan's silence, continued on. "I'm heading off to college right after I drop you off. It's all very exciting; I'm the first in my family to go. I'm going to be a doctor, see." Patrick said proudly.
I really like it, you should continue to add onto it.
